CheckPoint is a military information website created and updated by junior swiss officers. Its objectives are as follows:

• To provide an original content with regular updates about the military affairs in french, german and italian, and a selection of innovative or important articles, studies, comments or analyses in english. These informations should allow the military specialist - and especially the swiss reserve and active duty officers and NCOs - to widen his or her view on all the challenges that await the western armed forces in this new century: a wider spectrum of conflicts with shrunk budgets, a greater amount of military operations with less people, a larger influence of social bias with overhelming and overreacting media coverage, and a technological revolution in military affairs without a political understanding of its limitations.



• To share know-how and ideas about technical, tactical and human subjects. All military leaders faced, face and will face similar problems, and transmitting knowledge on others cannot be bounded to the institutional teaching. The Internet gives room to more direct exchanges and may prevent us to reinvent for the umpteenth time the same solutions.



• To promote our militia army with text, image and multimedia. In a sound democratic state like Switzerland, the freedom of information does not lead all media to treat the military subject with fairness and objectivity. Inaccuracies or lies printed or broadcasted can be read, heard or seen almost every day, and the information services of the armed forces still do not consider the media sphere as a fiercely competitive space. But if nobody seems to care about waging the information war, then the lower ranks must take the initiative.
